CPT International Animation Festival

CPT International Animation Festival

The Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF) celebrates the art of African animation and is the largest dedicated animation festival on the continent. Founded in 2011 it has become renowned for showcasing world-class content as well as providing opportunities to engage with global industry leaders.

The festival programme includes something for everyone, from animated films to insightful workshops and masterclasses, business-to-business sessions, roundtable sessions, producer events, networking sessions and government panel discussions.

The CTIAF is committed to inspiring the next generation of both audiences and animators with its popular annual student competition, kids and family programme and an outreach initiative. It is presented by Animation South Africa, the country’s official animation industry body.

The festival takes place every March annually at the Cape Town Stadium. In 2020 CTIAF announced a partnership with Comic Con Africa where the two events would be co-located. Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 festival was postponed to April 2021.
