Part of the Monomotapa Village south of Polokwane in Limpopo province, Legend golf course's name comes from its 19th hole.
The experience begins with golfers taking a helicopter ride to the tee box, which sits high above on a sheer cliff on Hangklip Mountain. From here it is a 576-metre drive to reach the pin. The tee box is 430 metres above the green, allowing plenty of leverage amidst a panoramic background. The green itself is shaped like the African continent, surrounded by a bunker. The average drive will remain airborne for about 30 seconds. All the balls are fitted with tracking devices in case the drive is a little wayward.
The cost to play all 19 holes at the Legend Golf and Safari Resort is approximately R2000 per person, which includes the helicopter trip to the 19th tee and a DVD of your drive from the Xtreme 19th. A hole-in-one on the 19th carries a prize of $1-million.
