The Mama City Improv Fest is the first and only international improv comedy festival in Africa.

The festival provides a rigorous programme for beginner and advanced improvisers to learn and practise improv. Offering an array of workshops and performances with both local and international instructors and performers, the aim of the festival is to create a platform that cultivates and celebrates local improv talent.

Performers can collaborate and exchange ideas to create innovative improv shows that not only showcase the range of local talent but promotes improv as an art form in the South African live art and comedy scene. The fête caters to both the young and the old, and promises to offer a diverse range of acts. Like many other events, the festival has had to focus on providing online entertainment via their social media accounts until further notice.
