The Oxwagon Lodge is a living museum and private hideaway for nature lovers wanting to relive the romance of the early Pioneers and Jock of the Bushveld era.
The Oxwagon Lodge is a unique concept combining the original ‘ossewa’ with some modern comforts, in an atmosphere of friendliness, bird song and beautiful trees.
Oxwagon Lodge has 6 original restored Oxwagons, that have been restored and converted to charming accommodation charming – perfect for families and couples to escape the rat race.
Each oxwagon is cute, cosy and simple. The main bedroom (double bed) is inside the oxwagon itself. Each oxwagon also has an attached ‘Hartbeeshuisie’ chalet that comprises a sitting room or second bedroom (single beds) plus a private bathroom with a hot shower and flushing toilet.
The tariff includes a Champagne Breakfast. For dinner, there is a Trekker Braai in the Lapa. It’s a real old-fashioned South African braai with ‘roosterkoekies’ and fresh ‘plaasbrood’ (farm bread) and ‘moerkoffie’. The Trekker Braai price isR240 pp.
The Lodge also offers romantic picnics, spitbraais and potjiekos for groups, a nature and ox-wagon museum, an amphitheatre, a bush pub, a swimming pool and a wedding venue.
