This annual literary event, founded by Billy Kennedy in 2012, is one of the leading attractions in this small village in the mountains.
The festival is spread across various venues in McGregor over the course of a weekend each August. Attracting poets and poetry lovers of all kinds, the festival is a themed schedule of readings, workshops and open mic sessions.
Additional features of the festival programme include an annual anthology which consists of poems written and/or read at the festival the previous year. There is also an annual poetry competition.
The Poetry in McGregor Festival is organised by the non-profit organization, the McGregor Arts and Community (MAC) Project. Proceeds from the festival are given to the McGregor community to support local creative projects such as arts and culture groups, dance groups, choirs and child care facilities.
